Your content in JUNO can be gamified to further engagement across the platform. As attendees interact with content, they earn points. Point totals can be seen in the leaderboard, designated by a lightning bolt

in the upper right corner of any platform page. By clicking on the lightning bolt icon, a popup window will appear showing the top three attendees on the leaderboard.

Points can be earned by performing certain actions around the site. Each action can only be performed once per piece of content to receive points, encouraging attendees to engage with as many pieces of content as possible for the maximum number of points. For example, an attendee can only earn points once per session for using an emoji. Once an action is performed, an attendee’s score will update, seen to the right of the lightening bolt icon in the upper right corner of any platform page. See the table below for a list of actions and their explanations.

Multipliers

Multipliers can be used to assign a higher weight of points for certain content. For example, you may choose to add a multiplier to higher tiered exhibitors, making actions on those pages worth more points that other exhibitors. Multipliers on any piece of content multiply all the actions on a particular piece of content by the integer of the multiplier. This means that if there is a 2x multiplier on a specific exhibitor, each points-gaining action (i.e., answering questions, clicking “Favorite”, clicking “Complete”, etc.) will earn double the amount of points per action.

Similarly, if there is a 5x multiplier on a session, each points-gaining action - such as using an emoji or commenting in the chat - will earn 5x the amount of points per action. Remember, though, actions can only earn points once per piece of content.

Setting Up Gamification

Point values can be designated by your team. In order to set your gamification structure, use the Gamification Template your Client Success Manager puts on Basecamp. This template allows you to designate the value of each action offered as well as specify pieces of content that will have multiplier tags on them.

Advertising Gamification

One of the main reasons attendees enjoy gamification is the opportunity to earn prizes! If it suits your conference, organize prizes that can be sent to attendees post-conference for the leaders on the leaderboard.

With every contest comes rules. Think about the rules you’d like to apply to this contest:

  • How many prizes do you have to give away?

  • Would you like to reset the leaderboard at any point during your conference? If so, when would you like it reset?

  • Who is eligible to earn prizes?

These rules should be listed out on your site for attendees to find. You can include a Game/Contest section on your FAQ page, or if the contest is detailed you can dedicate a page on the site for the game. You can list this page in the navigation or link to it from a billboard or banner on the site.

A visual of the prize(s) can be put in a featured rotator or a billboard to give even more incentive to attendees to participate. You can also remind attendees to engage with content through push notifications at any point during the event.

If you do decide to reset the leaderboard during the event, choose a certain time each day and let your Client Success Manager know that time. You will need to take note of the top scorers to be able to look up contact information. It’s best to note the top 5-10 people listed on the leaderboard just in case someone has won before or is not eligible to win.

Once you have the list of names, you can look up email addresses in the registration information to contact the winners and organize the prize delivery.
