This article is about the new JUNO learning management system (LMS). If you don’t see these features on your site, your platform still uses the legacy JUNO courses.
Some course settings lock (cannot be changed) after the course starts. This article explains why, when it happens, and how you can unlock it.
Who can access the course front-end editor?
This Only Site admins, at this time. Instructors will get access in future releases.
Why we lock editing
Locking course editing prevents issues with inaccurate grading. This could happen if someone alters a lesson after a learner already completed it.
How do you know when editing is locked?
In general, lessons cannot be edited once a course’s start date has passed.
The specific status of the course is shown below the course title. Below, we explain what each status means.
Status | When you’ll see it | What’s locked | How to unlock editing |
---|---|---|---|
🟢 Course is upcoming | Before the start date | Nothing | N/A |
🟠 Course in progress: Update the course live dates to make changes to lesson content | After the course start date | ||
🔴 Course is locked: The course is in progress and lesson changes can no longer be updated without removing the in-progress learners. |

Unlock editing
The internal JUNO team doesn’t have any special access to edit locked courses. The following workaround applies to everyone, whether on the front-end or backend.
