Who are they?

Which permissions do they have?

Instructor

A user who teaches an online course.

If the Instructor is also the Manager, they can be given both roles.

  • They only have permissions for the courses they are attached to.

  • Can edit the courses and on-demand content.

  • Cannot see any Learner information in the editor.

Note

Editing courses isn’t available in the front-end editor at this time. Course building is done through the importer or by the JUNO team in the content management system.

Learner

A user who enrolls in an online course.

  • Can take the course.

Manager

A user who is allowed to manage learners. For example, a school administrator or school teacher.

If the Manager is also the Instructor, they can be given both roles.

  • They only have permissions for the courses they are attached to.

  • Can enroll/unenroll Learners from their school in a course.

  • Can add/remove Learners from their school on a course waitlist.

  • Cannot see anything else in the course editor, unless they are given admin permissions for a course.

Site Admin

The site organizer or staff.

This user type already exists on JUNO. It’s not specific to the new LMS. They can edit and manage any course, as well as any other content. Learn more about site admins.
